Tips for Making Scalloped Potatoes
- Scalloped potatoes are traditionally made with sliced potatoes and a creamy cheese sauce. This recipe calls for sour cream and you may omit the sour cream if you prefer, but it adds a whole new dimension to the flavor.
- Feel free to add ham, more onion, green onion or whatever strikes your fancy for this recipe.
- Spread out one layer of sliced potatoes, then add half of the sauce and half of the cheese. Then create another layer of potatoes, sauce and cheese. This way, the cheese and sauce reaches many layers of the potatoes! Yummm!
- Bake the potatoes at 400 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes (or until golden brown on top). You may also bake these at 375 for an hour plus. We prefer the higher temperature to get a more golden brown top.
