Instructions
  1. Place oven rack to middle position (if using small toaster oven to bake the pear crisp, you can cover with foil so top doesn’t burn). Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Or set toaster oven to about 375.
  2. To make the topping, in a bowl stir together the oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture and stir until combined. Feel free to add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts as well.
  3. To make the filling, in a bowl mix together the sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Add the chopped pears and stir with a spatula to coat. Transfer the pear mixture to small dishes (or if making a large dessert, add pears into a large Pyrex dish).
  4. Spread the topping over the pear mixture. Bake until the fruit is bubbling around the edges. The topping will turn a golden brown. Bake about 15 minutes, if the oats are already browned and crisp, you can either stir the mixture a bit or cover with foil and bake another 10-15 minutes. Check to make sure the top doesn’t burn. When done, allow to cool a few minutes, then serve warm. Enjoy!
